How a LASER TYPE license works ?

 

Do I have to pay a monthly/yearly subscription?

No. You only pay once for the license, the software comes with a protection key in either Virtual or Physical format. That key will work forever as long as you keep it running on a compatible OS and hardware.

How many computers can I use LASER TYPE on?

The Virtual and Physical keys lets you use the software on 1 computer at a time. The Virtual key format is based on a local information, while the Physical key travels with the embedded license anywhere. It can be unplugged and replugged on as many computers you have.  Both Technologies are available at the time of the initial purchase/choice, the Physical key is recognized as the one providing the most flexibility as you do not need to extract any information or reinstall the license, the Physical key does that for you. We also offer floating/network licensing as Virtual and Physical to ease any type of integration in any type of environment. Contact us for special deployment.

Does the license expire?

A license is set with a version activation and an expiry date.  – usually 10 year from when you first activated your Software and the license is renewed at each major update purchased. If it expires, you do not lose your rights, your license is still a valid one and can be renewed as long as the technology has not changed on both software and hardware side.

Is there any Update/Upgrade Program?

We do see the update process as an improvement model (an upgrade). When a license is updated it is for a reason of increasing your capability not only in time efficiency but in using the tools constantly added to the Software. This is why we differentiate a license as minor updates from Major updates. When you purchase a license for a set Major version, you benefit of all the minor releases and builds set for that version. For instance if you buy V14 at any Build level 1, 2, 3… then all prior builds and following will be activable under the V14 Major version on your license. When a new Major update is being released such as V15 then we propose you to acquire an update to the new version offering a continuity in the developments but only if you decide you have a need of it.

As we also propose Technical Assistance within our services, which is called TYPE3CARE, we offer a complete contract to maintain the value of your Software by providing you with all the services around: such as phone support, trainings, remote access etc… again only if they are needed for your activity. Our solutions are flexible as well as our services.

How much it cost to renew?

If you choose to update your license to a new Major version the price will not be higher than 25% of the initial package cost. For 2D it is currently about $250 while for 3D it can reach up to $2000 depending on the packages. Note with the TYPE3CARE you can save on additionnal discount and insure running your software with not only the latest  technology but also with the assistance needed.  Renewing your license will add a complete year of minor updates from the renewal day. You can have some delays in updating your software but any version passed will need to be purchased. For instance if you run V14 today and you do not update to V15 but wish to acquire the V16 in a few years, then the V15 will have to be added to your cost of updating. Reason why we propose the TYPE3CARE as a recurrent service allowing you to budget the software maintenance as a yearly cost.

License Management:

If you would like to use LASER TYPE on a new computer, and still have access to the old computer, you can privilege the use of a Physical key. It is an USB device that can be unplugged and replugged as many time as needed between different computers. It presents the advantage to do not request any  process of de-activating and re-activating everytime you need to switch computer. For instance between offices, while travelling or between work and home office setup.

With Virtual keys it is important you keep the information of its ID. We can cancel licenses in the event of a failed hardware but the ID needs to be known to proceed with the replacement.

If you purchased or are purchasing your LASER TYPE license from another company than us directly, we’ll need to assign your name & email to your license key to be in agreement with the EULA. Email support@type3.com with your key, name, and email so we can update the key information for you.
